If you've been around since the beginning, you know the group, as it operates today, started in 2020, when COVID-19 showed up. It was born as "Southeast Texas Cash Mob" where a small group of 250 people committed to buying local for about a month when the pandemic first hit. Each day we tracked how much was spent locally and in a little over three weeks, we were well over $30,000 - it was incredible. In true Southeast Texas fashion, the community showed up when our small businesses needed them. It became clear that there was a need for something that showcased small businesses specifically, at no cost to the business. When we realized that, the Cash Mob transitioned to "Things to Do in SETX," which is meant to serve as a resource to community members and businesses. At the same time, we realized there were a lot of people saying "there's nothing to do in SETX," so we started a weekly list of 100+ things to do in the area. And now we are moving on to even more exciting things that will help businesses and community members alike.
